Review Shorties
What is it about?
Peer review is an important part of academic work, yet writing a high-quality review can be challenging, especially early in your career. This workshop introduces the essential skills needed to write effective scientific reviews. You will learn about the typical components of a review and how to organize them clearly. In addition, we will also look at how to strike the right tone, provide constructive feedback and express criticism diplomatically – communicating your evaluation in a way that is both rigorous and supportive.
Feedback is one of the best learning experiences: In Module 2, participants will be given individual feedback in order to strengthen their future review writing skills
Module 1a: 1-hour lecture, integrating activities and polls, focusing on “review writing“ (16.06., 09:30 – 10:30 a.m.)
Module 1b: 1-hour lecture, integrating activities and polls, focusing on “how to write clearly and concisely” (16.06., 11:00 - 12:00 a.)
Module 2: Feedback sessions in small groups (1,5 hour on 23. or 24.06.)
The participants edit an approx. 1-page text of their own based on the input from Module 1 and a checklist provided by the trainer and then share their texts with two colleagues and the trainer before meeting online.
