The CURE Summer School 2025 of the Käte Hamburger Kolleg at Saarland University is dedicated to the topic of "Dynamics of Despair" and will take place from 22 to 26 September at Villa Vigoni on Lake Como.

The event will examine how art, literature, film and theory can deal with the theme of despair and show ways out of resignation and stagnation. The aim is to analyse historical and contemporary strategies that open up new perspectives on an anxious present. The aim is to explore cultural practices that enable hope beyond illusions.

The application deadline is 28 March 2025.
The costs for travel and accommodation for 20 doctoral students will be fully covered.
