Flex Funding

TU-Nachwuchsring - We promote young scientists!

Flex Funding

The TU-Nachwuchsring would like to actively support advanced young scientists with their own working group and therefore invites applications for the Flex Funding line.

Target group

Junior professors, junior research group leaders and tenure track professors (up to W1) from all departments of the RPTU in Kaiserslautern are eligible to apply. Applications for Flex Funding can only be submitted by individuals.

Aim and type of funding

The aim of the funding is to support applicants in advancing their own academic career at the RPTU.  Funding of a maximum of € 3,000 per person and year for a clearly defined project can be applied for.

Members of the target group can apply for funding...

  • to advance their own research (e.g. Hiwi costs, equipment costs, chemicals),
  • for publication costs that are not covered by the Open-Access publication fund of University library,
  • as well as in justified exceptional cases for inviting cooperation partners or guests (e.g. potential cooperation partners for future research projects).

The use of funds for travel to conferences and to cooperation partners at other universities or research institutions (see funding line Mobility Funding), coaching (see funding line Coaching), for financing one's own position, for participation in external workshops (see funding line External Workshops for PostdocsPlus) and for representation costs (e.g. hospitality and advertising costs) is excluded.

Generally applies:
  • Prerequisite for funding is an individual membership in the TU-Nachwuchsring.
Please also note our criteria for using the offers of the TU-Nachwuchsring.
  • Criteria for junior research group leaders with PhD (based on the definition of BuWin for R3-researchers): As a junior research group leader, you have access to your own funds for human resources and materials that enable you to realize an independent research project and lead a team of doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers.
  • If you currently receive research funding from the TU-Nachwuchsring and have not yet completed your project, you have to make clear that the application for flex funding concerns a project that is independent of your research funding project.
