Through the central publication fund, young researchers (according to the definition of the Nachwuchsring) can apply for financial support for their Open Access publication fees (APC - Article Processing Charge). In contrast to the previous programme, there are the following new features:
If the APC is less than the basic subsidy, you will only be reimbursed the invoice amount shown.
The following Open Access publication types published in the current calendar year are eligible for funding:
Dissertations are not eligible for funding. These can be published free of charge via KLUEDO.
Further information on funding can be found on the University Library website.
As a further service, the Open Access team also offers advice on choosing the right journal, publishing on KLUEDO, selecting the right CC licence and secondary publication rights. If you are interested, please contact the staff at the University Library directly.
The DEAL contracts with Wiley and Springer represent another option for publishing articles in open access (gold and hybrid). Both contracts were concluded nationwide and initiated by the German Rectors' Conference.
All corresponding authors at RPTU have the opportunity to have their articles published in a hybrid OA journal at no extra cost to the authors, or receive a discount on publication in a gold OA journal. Billing is then handled centrally by the University Library without incurring any costs for the author (at least so far).
This offer is supplemented by contracts with Nature, IOP, AIP, Hogrefe and PLOS. The exact modalities can be found on the University Library website.
The scholarship supports female academics following family phases (caring for children or relatives in need of care).
You can find more information here.
If you have any questions, please contact Dr Cornelia Rövekamp.
RPTU's Equal Opportunities, Diversity and Family Office awards the annual prize for equality and gender equality measures (formerly the Women's Advancement Prize). The prize is endowed with €1,000. It is awarded to RPTU employees who initiate or have initiated measures to promote equality or gender sensitisation.
You can find more information here.
If you have any questions, please contact Dr Cornelia Rövekamp.
Link to the offers will follow. Until then, please contact Leslie Schleese from the RPTU Family Service Centre directly if you have any questions.
With the EXIST Business Start-up Grant and EXIST Research Transfer programmes, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy supports particularly innovative start-up ideas from universities, colleges and research institutes.
To support innovative, technology-orientated start-up ideas from universities, the BMWi has created the EXIST start-up grant. Under this programme, a team of up to three people receives a one-year scholarship, which includes material and coaching resources in addition to securing their livelihood. The EXIST-FORSCHUNGSTRANSFER programme, also initiated by the BMWi, serves to promote outstanding, research-based projects that require high-risk development work. Funding is possible for up to three years, whereby in addition to a research team of up to three employees, a business economist can also be funded.
If you have any questions, you can contact the Gründungsbüro at RPTU and KL University of Applied Sciences, which will provide you with intensive support when applying for the projects and will assist founders during the EXIST funding phase with all start-up-related questions. Further information on the above-mentioned and other programmes for start-ups can be found directly on the website of the Gründungsbüro.
With the QualiScheck funding programme, the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the European Social Fund (ESF) support employees in financing their further vocational training. The QualiScheck funding programme can be used to subsidise individually planned professional development measures for employees - even outside the company context - with up to 1,500 euros per year.
You can find more information here on the website of the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Transformation and Digitalisation. You can also check whether you fulfil the funding requirements in a preliminary check.
There are many scholarships offered by foundations and other funding organisations. You can find a list of important funding organisations on the pages of Department 4.
