OMBUDS COMMITTEE - TASKS

The ombuds committee "Good scientific practice" was established by the Senate of the RPTU as an independent body.

The committee is directly available to all scientists of RPTU for advice and support in questions of good scientific practice and its violation by scientific dishonesty.

The committee sees itself as an advisory and mediating institution. It is guided by the principles of procedural fairness, equality of information, and confidentiality. As far as possible, the procedure is conducted in consensus with the parties involved. The determination of scientific misconduct and the imposition of sanctions is not the task of the committee. In the case of a justified initial suspicion of scientific misconduct, the committee issues a summons on the investigation commission "Good scientific practice" of RPTU.

Every scientist of RPTU has the right to speak to a member of the committee personally within a short period of time.

The definition of scientific misconduct and the course of procedure can be found in the "Rules of Procedure to ensure good scientific practice at the RPTU" (in German).
