The ombuds committee ‘Good Scientific Practice’ was established by the RPTU Senate as an independent body.
The committee is directly available to all RPTU scientists for advice and support in matters of good scientific practice and its violation through scientific dishonesty.
The committee sees itself as an advisory and mediation organisation and is guided by the principles of procedural fairness, equality of information and confidentiality. As far as possible, the procedure is conducted in consensus with the parties involved. The determination of scientific misconduct and the imposition of sanctions is not the task of the panel. In the event of justified initial suspicion of scientific misconduct, the panel will involve the RPTU's ‘Good Scientific Practice’ investigation committee.
Every researcher at the RPTU has the right to speak personally to a member of the panel within a short period of time.
Good scientific practice at RPTU is based on the guidelines of the German Research Foundation (DFG) as amended: DFG Code of Conduct ‘Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Scientific Practice’. At the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau, the DFG Code is implemented by the ‘Statutes for Safeguarding Good Scientific Practice', which also contains a definition of scientific misconduct and the procedure.
