The President
Professor Malte Drescher (born in 1975) studied physics at the University of Karlsruhe, where he completed his doctorate in 2005. From 2006 to 2007, he was a DFG Fellow at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. He has been at the University of Konstanz since 2008, from 2008 to 2013 as a junior research group leader in the Emmy Noether Program and as a fellow of the Zukunftskolleg, and from 2014 to 2015 with a Heisenberg fellowship. In 2014, Drescher habilitated in physical chemistry. Since 2015, Drescher has been a professor of physical chemistry (Heisenberg professorship) at the University of Konstanz and, since 2018, a member of the rectorate. In 2017, he was awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant by the European Research Council, and in 2023, an ERC Proof of Concept Grant. Drescher has been a member of the standing commission for research and career paths of the German Rectors' Conference since 2022. Since 2024, he has been a professor (W3) of chemistry at RPTU and President of the university.
