Take the initiative and find a professor who supervises your thesis.

1. Look closely at the research interests and publications of the respective faculty and find one (or several) who matches with your research interests.
2. Then develop a research idea, write a short text, and send the faculty member your CV etc. along with your research idea.
3. Once you found a supervisor, he or she needs to issue a written confirmation for you as a proof.

On the website of the university you will find information on subjects, institutes and scientists in the individual departments.

Once you have received a supervision agreement from your supervisor, you need to apply for the official acceptance as a doctoral candidate.

Submit your application to the dean's office of the respective department:
Download the application form and add the documents as requested on the individual department's website.

Besides the registration and acceptance as a doctoral candidate in the respective department, you can enroll as a student at the beginning of a semester. The enrollment is not mandatory.

The following documents are required for the application for the enrollment as a doctoral student :

1. Application for admission
2. Copy of your high school diploma in the language it was issued
3. Translation of your high school diploma into German or English (only if the original was not issued in English or German.)
4. Copies of your academic / university degrees (Bachelor, Master) with marks and subject overview
5. Translation of your academic / university degrees (Bachelor, Master) into German or English (only if the original was not issued in English or German. )
6. Commitment of the tutor / supervisor of the thesis
7. Tabular CV

The Registration Office will inform you if you can be admitted as a doctoral degree student in order to enroll or not.
You will receive a letter of admission if you can be admitted. The letter of admission states the required documents and steps in order to enroll:

1. Transfer the semester contribution,
2. Hand in further documents as stated in your letter of admission
