Studying at RPTU as Freemover Student

There is no cooperation between your university and RPTU?
No worries! You can join RPTU as a FREEMOVER student for 1 or 2 semesters!
 

Requirements:

  • either B1 in English and recommended at least A1 in German or at least B1 in German (for exclusively German-Taught programs)
  • Transcript of Records from your home university (in English)
  • you need to be currently enrolled as a student at an university outside of Germany
  • Furthermore you should already know in which faculty you want to study and which courses you want to select at RPTU.

Steps for joining us as a Freemover

  • Contact incomings-exchange-kl[at]rptu.de with your application materials (CV, Letter of Motivation, Transcript of Records) for Kaiserslautern. For Landau, please contact Jutta Bohn. 

    In order to get everything done in time, we recommend applying until

30.05 for the Winter Semester 

31.11. for the Summer Semester 

  • After we have reviewed your application, you will receive the link to our application portal
  • Please upload the required documents in the application portal
  • Prepare your Learning Agreement. Contact your Exchange Coordinator if you have any questions regarding classes.
  • Upload your Learning Agreement. It needs to be signed by yourself and your home university. 
  • After acceptance, you will receive your Letter of Acceptance 

  • If needed, apply for a visa
  • Find housing in Kaiserslautern. You will receive more information on where to look via E-Mail
  • Upload documents needed for Enrollment. You will receive further information via E-Mail

  • In the beginning, you can make changes in your Learning Agreement. Please contact your Exchange coordinator to have it signed.
  • Register for your exams
  • Exams

     

  • If your home university requires a Certificate of Duration, you can come to the Erasmus Office to have it signed. Please note that your end date will be the date of your last exam. The certificate can only be signed on or after your final day
  • contact the Examination office to get your Transcript of Records
  • We would be delighted if you could send us a short text or pictures detailing your experiences at the RPTU. With your permission, we will use them to inform future international students of your experiences.
Semester Dates

Winter semester:

  • 01.10. - 31.03.
  • Lectures start on 19.10.2026 and end on 06.02.2027
  • The exam period begins in the middle of February and ends in the middle of April
     

Summer semester:

  • 01.04.-30.09.
  • Lectures start on 13.04.2026 and end on 18.07.2026
  • The exam period begins at the beginning of August and ends at the end of September
