The three-year university program provides:
- basic computer science knowledge
- knowledge of important computer science systems
- the ability to develop software
The compulsory area consists of the blocks Software Development, Computer Science Systems, Theoretical Foundations including Mathematics and General Foundations. A self-selected specialization deepens the study in one of seven teaching areas. The study is completed by a free elective of 32 cp.
The compulsory area lasts about four semesters. Studies in the major and the free elective start overlapping from the third or fourth semester. Individual courses towards the end of the program are offered in English due to the international orientation of the subject of computer science. The program concludes with the completion of the Bachelor's thesis, which takes about a quarter of a year of full-time work. If individual courses have to be postponed to the seventh semester, students can provisionally enroll in the Master's program in order not to lose any time.

The supplementary section (free elective subject) is used either to acquire basic knowledge from an application area (which can be made up of lectures from several subject areas) or for further specialization in computer science. Interdisciplinary courses, e.g. language courses, can also be taken in the free elective section.
Two projects which have to be done at the RPTU.
Not mandatory but highly recommended.
The StudierendenServiceCenter offers a variety of consultation and information all around studying at the RPTU.
