In addition to the general fundamentals of electrical engineering and information technology, the Bachelor program Media and Communication Technology (MKT) focuses mainly on media technolog. On top you will also learn about the interface between people and technology and are therefore ideally equipped for a wide range of possible jobs and career paths.
In addition, you can hone your own profile with technical and non-technical electives - important for your next step into a Master's program or career.
As a graduate in Media and Communication Technology, you will be an expert in technical solutions in the fields of media technology, multimedia and communication technology. That means in detail:
- You have a broad basic knowledge of the disciplines of mathematics, physics, computer science, electrical engineering and information technology
- You are able to apply this knowledge practically to subject-specific problems
- You know the basics and understand the technical background of (new) media
- You are familiar with the creative processes and aspects of media design and production and can therefore exchange ideas with experts in this field
- Your analytical thinking enables you to identify and analyze technical challenges yourself
- Your ability to think abstractly allows you to derive approaches to solving problems
- You can act in a structured manner and take responsibility for your (self-)reflected procedures

Curriculum

The Bachelor program Media and Communication Technology (MKT) leads to a first professional qualification after seven semesters. We place great emphasis on a broad basic education in the natural sciences and technology and focus on media technology and media literacy. You will deepen your knowledge in various laboratories, projects and seminars. The program concludes with a Bachelor's thesis.

As an undergraduate, you can go on to study for a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (EIT) majoring in communication technology .

Lectures in the first semesters of the Bachelor's program are offered in German. Courses in higher semesters and on the Master's program are also partly in English, although school English is sufficient.

Graduates in Media and Communication Technology work wherever people, technology and media come together. As an expert in this field, all doors are literally open to you:
• The „classic“ broadcasting area (radio and television), e.g. planning and support of studio and transmission technology
• The entire building technology, e.g. conception and development of video conference systems, theaters or event rooms
• Content production in film and sound studios, e.g. in the planning and installation of IT systems and networks
• Event business, e.g. as a technical coordinator for major events
• Internet companies, e.g.as an expert in social networks and data management
• Industry and medicine, e.g. as a developer of user interfaces or signal processing, visualization
• Communication technology, e.g. as a network planner in the cellular or fiber optic area
• Game industry, e.g. as a developer of game worlds, sound designer or project manager
