Required knowledge of the German language
Of course, you need much better German language skills than B-1 for your studies in subject-specific areas. For example, you need the DSH examination with the overall result DSH-2 or DSH-3.
The DSH examination for new students will take place at RPTU in March and September. Please click here to find out more.
However, you can also prove this language level with other certificates and then start your studies in a subject-specific area directly. Then you are not required to take a DSH examination:
- German Abitur (certificate from a German school in Germany or abroad)
- Certificate of completion of a Studienkolleg [preparatory college] in Germany (“Feststellungsprüfung” [assessment test])
- DSH certificate with grade DSH-2 or DSH-3 of a German university
- the “Kleine deutsche Sprachdiplom” (KDS) [Basic German Language Diploma] of the Goethe Institute
- the “Große deutsche Sprachdiplom” (GDS)[Advanced German Language Diploma] of the Goethe Institute
- the “Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung” (ZOP) [Central Advanced Language Test] of the Goethe Institute
- the Unicert III certificate for the German language
- TestDaF certificate with at least TDN-4 in all parts
- Certificate Deutsches Sprachdiplom II (DSD II) der Kultusministerkonferenz (KMK)
