The Erasmus+ program is the largest and best-known student exchange program within Europe, offering students the opportunity to study abroad at partner universities across Europe.

Erasmus Program Process

1. Nomination

To apply as an Erasmus+ student, you must first be nominated by your home university. Please contact the International Office or Erasmus coordinator at your home university to begin the application  process. 

In order to nominate you, your home university mus send your nomination to incomings-exchange-kl[at]rptu.de

The nomination should include:

  • Full name
  • Email- Address
  • Academic department
  • planned period of study

 

2. Application

After we receive your nomination, we will send you an email with login details for our online application portal Mobiltiy Online.

As part of your application, you will need to upload the following documents:

  • CV
  • Letter of Motivation
  • Transcript of Records
  • Language certificate
  • Digital Learning Agreement via EWP (contact your home university for help)

Further instructions will be provided in the application portal.

Application Deadlines:

Winter Semester: 31 May

Summer Semester: 30 November

Please upload your application documents in English of German to help speed up the review process.

 

3. Course Selection

before finalising your Digital Learning Agreement, you should contact your Erasmus coordinator at the RPTU. 

You can also browse available courses in our online Module Handbook.

If you have questions about specific courses, our Erasmus Office and the relevant academic departments will be happy to assist you.

 

4. Letter Of Acceptance

Once your application has been approved, you will receive your official Letter of Acceptance by email.

 

5. Accomodation

After receiving your Letter of Acceptance, you can apply for a room in the student residence halls managed by the Studierendenwerk.

Please note that accomodation can not be guaranteed. We will also provide information about private accomodation options.

 

6. ErasmuScout

To help you settle in, you can apply for our ErasmuScout programme. You will be matched with an RPTU student who can support you during your stay, answer your questions, and help you get to know the university, the city, and student life.

7. Open Olat

After you have received your Letter of Acceptance, you can enrol in our Open Olat course for incoming exchange students.

The course provides important information and documents to help you prepare for your stay at RPTU. It also offers a plattform where you can connect with other exchange studentes before your arrival.

 

8. Digital Information Session

About two months before the start of your exchange, we will invite you to a  Digital Information Session via Open Olat. During this session, we will explain the next steps in preparing for your stay at RPTU and answer any questions you might have.

Topics include:

  • Finding accomodation
  • Applying for the ErasmuScout Programme
  • Completing your enrolment
  • Preparing for your arrival in Gemany 
  • Important deadlines and practical information

Participation is highly recommended, as the session will help you prepare fo a smooth start to your exchange semester.

 

9. Enrollment

Before you begin your studies, you must complete your enrolment at RPTU.

This includes:

  • Paying the Social Fee
  • Providing proof of valid health insurance
  • Telling us your German address
  • Submitting the chipcard document

We will send you detailed instructions after your application has been accepted

10. Welcome Day

Before lectures start, we organise our Welcime Day- How to Survive in Germany. 

During the Welcome Day, you will receive important information about studying at RPTU, completing administrative formalities, and settling into life in Germany. It is also a great opportunity to meet other exchange students before classes begin. We strongly recommend attending this event.

 

11. ErasmuScout activities

If you join the ErasmuScout Programme, you will be invited to a variety of social and cultural activities throughout the semester. 

These may include: 

  • Excursions to other cities
  • Cultural activities
  • International evenings
  • Parties and social events.

These activities are a great way to meet new people, discover Germany, and make the most of your exchange experience.

Information about upcoming events will be sent to you via email.

 

12. Exam Registration

If you would like to take examinations at RPTU, you must register for them in advance. As an Erasmus+ student, you can register for your exams up to one week before the examination date.

13. Examination Period

most examinations take place towards the end of the semester. Please note that examination dates can vary depending on the course and faculty. Be sure to check the schedule provided by your department. For questions about examinations, you can also contact your examination office directly.

14. Transcript of Records

After you have completed your examinations, your Transcript of Records will be issued by the relevant Examination Office (Prüfungsamt). You can request it via email.

 

15. Report on Duration

Before leaving RPTU, you must visit the Erasmus Office (Ms. Kadel, Bld. 47, Room 602) to have your Report on Duration of Stay signed.

Important:

  • The end date on the report mus be the date of your last academic activity, which is usually your final examination. 
  • We can only sign your Report on Duration on or after your end date.
  • Please bring the completed form with you when you visit the Erasmus Office
