Opening of the Making of Pfalz exhibition: Palatinate State Library Speyer
How did the Palatinate become what it is today? The exhibition "Making of Pfalz" from 14.01.2026 seeks answers to these questions and traces how a Bavarian administrative district developed into a region with a strong cultural identity in the 19th century. Unique historical items, printed works and photographs show how "typically Palatine" characteristics were created linguistically and visually and continue to have an impact to this day. The accompanying lectures will address media-historical aspects of the Palatinate image and its dissemination as well as the history of folkloristic research into the region and questions of the culture of remembrance in relation to the Franco-Prussian War.
