Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disease with a cause that is not yet fully understood. The lecture provides a compact overview of the current state of scientific knowledge and sheds light on the biological mechanisms of development and known risk factors of Alzheimer's disease. In addition, current drug treatment approaches will be presented. Both the opportunities and limitations of therapy will be highlighted.
