Public panel discussion "Fish in global change"
From October 9 to 12, 2025, everything will revolve around the topic of fish and their protection in times of global change at the Landau campus of RPTU University Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU).
To kick off the multi-day series of events in Landau, a public panel discussion entitled "Fish in times of global change" will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 3:30 pm. Representatives from science and practice will shed light on current developments, challenges and solutions from an ecological, social and political perspective. Key questions will include how aquatic habitats and fish populations have already changed due to climate change, species loss, environmental pollution and changes in land use - and what measures could be taken to counteract this.
Five experts from science, management and practice will contribute their expertise: Alexander Brinker (Landwirtschaftliches Zentrum Baden-Württemberg; LAZBW), Heiko Brunken (Gesellschaft für Ichthyologie, GfI), Thomas Schmidt (Ökosystemforschung Anlage Eußerthal, RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau), Florian Stein (Deutscher Angelfischerverband e.V.) and Günther Unfer (Institut für Hydrologie und Gewässermanagement, Universität für Bodenkultur Wien).
