Experience research: Intelligent commercial vehicles and robotic systems
The Center for Commercial Vehicle Technology at RPTU provides insights into research into intelligent commercial vehicles and robotic systems.
Among other things, the robotics laboratory of the computer science department opens its doors and presents current research projects in the fields of mobile robotics, intelligent assistance systems and autonomous vehicles. Visitors will get to know an autonomous bus and an autonomous tractor. Also on display are a robot leg with artificial muscles, a humanoid robot for human-robot interaction and a robot dog. The team from the robotics laboratory will provide insights into research fields such as sensor technology, artificial intelligence and modern control technology and show which developments are already being used in mobility, agriculture, industry and everyday life.
At the same time, the 3D printing laboratory of the Chair of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering is open to interested visitors. There, they can experience first-hand how modern 3D printing systems work, how complex components are created layer by layer and what role additive manufacturing plays in the commercial vehicle industry and science. Another highlight is the electrically powered robot ROVO, developed by Hawe Mattro for use in agriculture and unpaved terrain. The system serves as a research platform for automation, robotics and autonomous systems at the Center for Commercial Vehicle Technology. The current focus is on "logging" - researchers are investigating how the vehicle can support efficient and sustainable timber transportation in the forestry sector.
The Chair of Mechatronics in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering is also presenting a networked car equipped with sensors that serves as a test platform for automated driving and environmental perception.
Location: Building 48, Room 260 (robot presentations) and Building 42, Room 175 (3D printing lab and ROVO presentation)

Kaiserslautern is celebrating "750 years of city rights" this year. RPTU, the only technical university in Rhineland-Palatinate, has helped write over 50 years of the city's history since it was founded in 1970. The university is one of the largest employers in the region, a driving force in science and a vibrant part of the city community. In its anniversary year, this shared history will find special expression in the "City meets Campus" day of action, with RPTU contributing to the celebrations. The event at the Center for Commercial Vehicle Technology is part of this.
