IPSC 2026 | Interdisciplinary perspectives on the smart city

The digital and demographic challenges in urban, rural and regional areas affect various areas of society and require expertise from a wide range of technical and non-technical disciplines. After the first successful IPSC Conference 2024, we want to continue the interdisciplinary, scientific exchange this year. More than 50 presentations in three parallel sessions will be dedicated to demographic change and other topics such as AI in the smart city, evaluation and impact, governance, rural areas and data, platforms and twins. The keynote speakers are Julia Simonson (German Center on Aging) and Jens Kandt (University College London). In addition, the second meeting of the Smart City Science Network will take place as part of IPSC 2026. The registration link, the current programme and all information about the conference - including ticket categories, hotel recommendations and organizational information - can also be found on the official conference website. In the context of IPSC 2026, the final conference of the Carl Zeiss Foundation-funded research project "Ageing Smart - designing spaces intelligently" will also take place in a specific track. The IPSC conference is being organized by the RPTU University Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU), the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence GmbH (DFKI) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering IESE. The IPSC 2026 takes place with the participation of the Smart City science network.
