The RPTU Science Talks showcase the diversity and cutting-edge nature of the engineering sciences, the impact they have on our daily lives, and the technical principles behind many developments. The participating scientists present topics from the fields of mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and information technology in a concise, clear, and accessible manner. The Science Talks are aimed primarily at a young audience but are also open to anyone else interested in science. No prior knowledge is required.

Engineering Meets Beatboxing

Among other things, visitors will learn this afternoon how propulsion systems in airplanes and wind turbines work, how roller coasters are braked, what cookies reveal about the properties of materials, how mobile communications technology makes agriculture more efficient and sustainable, and how bacteria serve as important aids in the biotechnological production of beer, building materials, and active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Between the presentations, beatboxer and RPTU student Isaac Lee Zen Xue—known as LaeLow—will demonstrate that creating a diverse range of sounds requires no technical aids, just the mouth, lips, tongue, voice, and breath sounds. He is one of the rising stars of the European beatboxing scene and is also actively involved in artist support.

On-site Program Information and Academic Advising

At the same time, RPTU will have a booth providing information about its academic programs and highlighting the career opportunities that engineering, in particular, offers to the professionals of tomorrow. Prospective students can also receive on-site guidance on which majors suit their interests and abilities and how the application and admission process works at RPTU.

Rock and Pop to Round Out the Evening

To round out the day, AlgoRhythmic will take the anniversary stage starting at 6 p.m. The Computer Science department’s band performs well-known rock and pop songs with great enthusiasm and live energy.
