Research

My research focuses on algorithmic discrete optimization, in particular the design and analysis of efficient methods for discrete, finite optimization problems. The focus is also on uncertainties and incomplete information - for example through the development and evaluation of online algorithms and robust methods, each with mathematically provable quality guarantees. The topics touch on related areas such as graph theory, complexity and game theory as well as stochastics. Many of my questions arise from practical applications and lead to interesting theoretical problems.
