The RPTU chip card
The RPTU chip card is an integral part of campus life and supports both everyday study and work. It is used in many areas of the university, including campus management, the library, the cafeteria, and service facilities. Important note: Newly enrolled students will receive their chip card by mail. If the chip card was issued very shortly before the start of the semester, it can be picked up at the Student Service Center. In this case, we will inform you by email. Criteria
Photo upload Employee ID card
- Passport photo (not necessarily biometric)
- Front view, well lit
- Face is not covered
- Portrait photo (not a full-body photo)
- File type must be JPG, BMP, or PNG.
- Must be 600 x 450 pixels or larger.
- Portrait orientation, with a width-to-height ratio of 3:4.
- No larger than 2 MB

Functions of the chip card
The RPTU chip card is a central, personalized ID card for students, employees, and other university members. It combines numerous functions of everyday university life in a single medium and enables convenient and secure access to various services on campus.
Identification
Official employee or student ID card with photo and personalized data.
Library card
Quick borrowing and use of library services at all RPTU locations.
Payment system on campus
Cashless payment in the cafeteria and cafeterias
Printing and copying system
Log in at central printing and copying stations to use the RPTU printing service.
Note: After linking your chip card to your RPTU account, you can use it to log in to any multifunction device and use the printing and scanning functions. To link your card, place it on the card reader of a multifunction device and enter your RPTU account name (without “@rhrk.uni-kl.de” or “@rptu.de”) and your password.

New employees must go to the Central Library (chip card service point) in Building 32, Room 260 to have their chip card created. To do this, you will need an ID document and a photo (passport photo or printed photo).
