BAföG is a financial support with which studies are supported if they cannot be financed from one's own resources or from one's parents or spouse or life partner.
Changes for the winter semester 24/25:
- Increase in the requirement rates
- Increase in income allowances and lump sums
- Study start-up grant of 1,000 euros for young students who receive social benefits and are enrolling for the first time
- Flexible semester following the regular funding period
- Extended deadlines for changing subject areas
