Among the engineering sciences, bioengineering and chemical engineering are characterized by a particularly close connection to the natural sciences. Chemistry is in the foreground, but important fundamentals also come from biology and physics. In essence, it is about the application of scientific principles in industrial practice using engineering methods. The focus is on bioprocess engineering and chemical processes that are used to convert substances. During the course of study, students not only learn the scientific principles of these processes, but also the typical engineering principles for the practical design of the processes and the associated plants.
In addition to lectures and exercises from the fields of mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology, the bachelor's program covers the fundamentals of engineering sciences such as thermodynamics and process engineering. Laboratories from the field of process engineering provide university practical content. From the fifth semester on, the study can be deepened by elective modules from the fields of chemistry, process engineering and mechanical engineering. The research paper and the bachelor's thesis provide the first basics of scientific work.
An internship in industry is NO longer required for admission to the degree program from WS 24/25!
