Automation and Control (A&C) is a research-oriented Master's program. It consists of a core and a compulsory elective part. You can choose between two majors:
- Real-Time Control Systems (RCS)
- Connected Automation Systems (CAS)

Automation and control technology deals with the control and regulation of complex systems such as production plants, distributed networks or on-chip / on-board architectures. The focus is always on robustness and safety.

During your Master's program, you will acquire in-depth knowledge in the areas of control engineering, modeling, the development of safe and robust systems and mechatronic systems. We also offer you a varied elective program to suit your personal qualifications.

Graduates of the master degree in Automation and Control (A&C) are within their chosen majors able to:
• Analyze, describe and structure interdisciplinary tasks in control and automation technology as well as their interaction in current and future industrial and everyday applications
• Calculate, design and use automation and control engineering components, machines, plants and systems
• Design, implement and evaluate goal-oriented technical solutions for practical tasks using mathematical, simulative and algorithmic methods
• Use scientific methods to gain new knowledge
• Work goal-oriented and deadline-oriented in a project team
• Represent and present your goals, methods and results in a structured and target group-oriented manner
• Assess and evaluate your own approach with regard to economic, legal, sustainable and social aspects
• Recognize and close your own knowlegde gaps

Automation engineers typically find jobs in all industries that use production and process technology equipment and control methodology. They are particularly in demand in:

• mechanical and automotive industry
• energy supply and energy management
• pharmaceutical and chemical industries
• the electrical industry
• building and environmental equipment sector
• the food industry
• manufacturing and packaging industry
