TechnoPhysics is a joint study program of the departments of Physics and Mechanical and Process Engineering in Kaiserslautern. The bachelor's program TechnoPhysics aims to provide you with theoretical and practical fundamentals of modern physics and engineering sciences and to introduce you to current research in these disciplines with its research-oriented profile. It offers you the opportunity to simultaneously understand the fundamentals in detail and in university depth with a strong application orientation. This is the right program for you if you find pure physics too abstract, but pure mechanical engineering not in-depth enough.

Curriculum

In the first two semesters, you can expect an introduction to classical physics with the topics of mechanics and heat (first semester) and electromagnetism and optics (second semester), technical mechanics and the first half of your mathematics education. The TechnoPhysics seminar offers you the opportunity to apply what you have learned in small projects and then present it. In the third and fourth semester the second half of your mathematics education takes place. Technical mechanics is completed, and thermodynamics and materials science are on the schedule. In parallel, you will receive an introduction to experimental quantum physics, as well as molecular and solid state physics. The second seminar TechnoPhysics deals with more complex problems, the solutions of which are again presented in lectures. In the last third of the program, knowledge is acquired in the area of measurement and control technology, and individual emphases are set in the form of the technical/physical elective. Internships in all subject areas support your education. The project work prepares you for the completion of your studies, the bachelor thesis.
